Aleph Heartbreaking and powerful "out of time" songs. A sum for mournful lovers. A mighty album.Favorite tracks : All.

norodoom Dark, brooding atmosphere with lyrics of pain and longing makes the setting all too familiar. Contrasted by glimpses of happiness with unique instrumentation, this album stays fresh. One aspect that sticks out are the vocal harmonies. Layered with precision, some of the songs have this ethereal tone to them. Waiting for the Endless Dawn is the soundtrack to the lives of those who have suffered; those that long for a better tomorrow. What do you find solace in that keeps you going each day? Favorite track: A Cold Day To Face My Failure.

quantumgreg A harmonizing of beauty & brutality. The "I Lie In Wait" track is the epitome of this on the album; beautiful melodic harmonizing vocals, and then the chugga-chugga breakover with growling vocals. Then beautiful instrumentation to top it off. VERY enjoyable album I've already listened to a dozen times straight. Thank you, The Eternal, for this! Favorite track: I Lie In Wait.
Madrigal_hjalmar
Madrigal_hjalmar thumbnail
Madrigal_hjalmar Mammoth album. The introductory track, "The Wound," sets a perfect stage, remaining completely engaging for the entire 20-min runtime setting a bar which is never lowered. The final title cut is an emotionally powered catharsis that should make early-era MDB fans swoon with rapture as their hearts explode. Overall 9/10, only brought down a bit by the runtime, though I would not even begin to know how to trim any of this, as none if it feels like excess. Favorite track: Waiting For The Endless Dawn.

The Wound 19:55
THE WOUND I waited on your words Not knowing they’d shatter As they passed through your lips Like any other words you’d say They re-arranged themselves On the flowers that you lay They hit me in the throat And I was lost for words to say Time heals all wounds, or so they say… I wait for the death of the garden in which we lay I lament and regret as I watch you fade I take this last breath in this sorrows cold decay I weigh this regret as I begin to fray Your eyes cut like sharp stone Digging deeper to white bone I lay here bound and cold In a monotone fatigue I strain to raise my eyes Beneath the weight of your shadow Your insistent shimmering gaze No longer seems to shine Time heals all wounds, or so they say… I wait for the death of the garden in which we lay I lament and regret as I watch you fade I take this last breath in this sorrows cold decay I weigh this regret as I begin to fray You leave me suffocated, you leave me Isolated You leave me desecrated, you leave me terminated This blackness rises before me like a wall My mind reaches beyond, frantic as I fall I’ll keep waiting now, but I know you’re not here It still weighs me down, will it disappear? I wait for the death of the garden in which we lay I lament and regret as I watch you fade I take this last breath in this sorrows cold decay I weigh this regret as I begin to fray As your words etch themselves in the wound, I become an afterthought…

RISE FROM AGONY I need a saviour here tonight (Here tonight) To spill through this cold weak light I’ve been buried in this shrine (In this shrine) In this tomb I’ve become entwined I can’t see the forest for the trees I can’t seem to rise from this agony And I need to sleep for awhile… I can’t see the dream’s that used to be I can’t seem to release this misery And I need to sleep for awhile… I need release from this pain that binds (Pain that binds) Abandoned hope in a world that blinds Washed away in a crimson tides (Crimson tides) Shattered remanence that divides I can’t see the forest for the trees I can’t seem to rise from this agony And I need to sleep for awhile… I can’t see the dreams that used to be I can’t seem to release this misery And I need to sleep for awhile… I lie here waiting for an end From this void, can I transcend? I’m not afraid to close my eyes With all the scares that cover me The open wounds and memories But I’m not afraid to close my eyes I can’t see the forest for the trees I can’t seem to rise from this agony And I need to sleep for awhile… I can’t see the dreams that used to be I can’t seem to release this misery And I need to sleep for awhile… At horizon’s end I’ve been waiting slumber to call As I descend I’ve been waiting slumber to fall

A COLD DAY TO FACE MY FAILURE What hope or reason do I have? To find faith in what I feel Will self doubt lead me to failure? Or will I find strength in something real Every time I find my wings I can't find the strength to fly Every time I cut the strings I can't seem to break this... One step forward and three steps back A cold day to face my failure Can't I find a way to re-attach? A cold day to face my failure I reach out again & again, but in vein An illusion to cover this pain The conclusion seems to remain the same But still only myself to blame Every time I find my wings I can't find the strength to fly Every time I cut the strings I can't seem to break this tie One step forward and three steps back A cold day to face my failure Can't I find a way to re-attach? A cold day to face my failure I see my face, it's withered & grey Can I seize this day? Before its to late Can't I ever let this go? No I won't ever let it go Can't I ever let this go? No I won't ever let it go Every time I find my wings I can't find the strength to fly Every time I cut the strings I can't seem to break this tie One step forward and three steps back A cold day to face my failure Can't I find a way to re-attach? A cold day to face my failure

I LIE IN WAIT I lie in wait for your soul, I lie in wait for your soul I lie in wait for your soul, I lie in wait for your soul The cold moon lights the narrow path A path you should not take Your wounds they show the aftermath In this sorrows bleeding wake The morning is white, the evening is black A grey sorrow settles in between Hold out your hand, hold out your hand Hold out your hand, you’re bleeding Hold out your hand, hold out your hand Hold out your hand, keep reaching I lie in wait for your soul, I lie in wait for your soul The midnight sun reflects the light On the frozen water deep A red line dotted in white snow Ever closer to your sleep The morning is white, the evening is black A grey sorrow settles in between Hold out your hand, hold out your hand Hold out your hand, you’re bleeding Hold out your hand, hold out your hand Hold out your hand, keep reaching Won’t you just let me inside You can no longer hide Won’t you just let me inside To find the one who has died What I see in these shadows Cannot be unseen… I see your light is fading, weak & cold I see your for the taking, a truth untold The morning is white, the evening is black A grey sorrow settles in between Hold out your hand, hold out your hand Hold out your hand, you’re bleeding Hold out your hand, hold out your hand Hold out your hand, keep reaching I’ll be waiting this time… I’ll be waiting this time…

DON’T BELIEVE ANYMORE I never counted on this Guess that's the way that it goes, yeah You used to be someone I knew Somebody I could understand but Now, I don't know what to do And I don't know who you are, no All those things, I hear you say You talk that way, you're a stranger and I I don't know where to begin Don't want to hear it again I don't believe anymore And this is all I know I know, I've heard it before I don't believe anymore And I remember your voice Before this happened to us And I could see and I was sure And everything was young and new but We lost it too many times And that's the way that it is Lovers come and lovers go When you think you know It just isn't true, oh I don't know where to begin Don't want to hear it again I don't believe anymore And this is all I know I know, I've heard it before I don't believe anymore I don't know where to begin Don't want to hear it again I don't believe anymore And this is all I know I know, I've heard it before I don't believe anymore Don't believe anymore Don't believe anymore Don't know where to begin Don't want to hear it again Don't believe anymore And this is all I know I know, I've heard it before Don't believe anymore

IN THE LILAC DUSK In the lilac dusk it comes Under silver stars and a glowing crimson moon Weaving through the dark cold rain In this slanted mist, I reach upward in rigid pain My light it burns out slowly As my frozen voice echoes in silence Shadows move across these skies Over this hollow world, motionless I raise my eyes Born is my burden, stinging with this grief Aching in silence, no words that bring relief A semblance of warmth, never to be found I whisper to the earth, but I stand on hollow ground Under my darkened veil Still lies my silver crown I grip with these hands so frail But still I can’t seem to hold it down Buried under my darkened veil Still lies my silver crown Waves rise and crash around me In this loneliness I drown These shores are silent, calved in eternal black The sky is swollen with rain, shaken from fleeting light The serpent's parting words Hang with gloom in my weary head Ghost-like clouds descend As I brood with sombre eyes Under my darkened veil Still lies my silver crown I grip with these hands so frail But I still can’t seem to hold it down Buried under my darkened veil Still lies my silver crown Waves rise and crash around me In this loneliness I drown Words fall without a sound and I know the purity of my despair The shining silence of scorn cuts through As this world dissolves around me I stand here cold and shivering In this cloud of secret despair… And this moment clung to me With it’s heavy cloak of dread…

WAITING FOR THE ENDLESS DAWN …And I wait for an endless dawn To rise before me And I seek the burning of a new sun To chase away these ever falling shadows …Waiting for the endless dawn

about

‘Waiting For The Endless Dawn’ proves to be a heavy hearted, dark statement in the bands diverse and long career. Featuring 75 minutes of dark melancholic progressive influenced Doom Metal, the band spent over 3 years writing and recording what can be best described as the bands darkest & heaviest album to date.

“If you’re looking for something to blow you away, look no further than Waiting For The Endless Dawn. This is a truly exceptional piece of work.” - 10/10 Soundscape Magazine (UK)

“Doom metal hasn't sounded so very intriguing and adventurous for a long time, actually I see that rare are the bands in todays doom metal scene who have the guts to create something that transcends the genre and at a certain point reinvents it.” - 9.5/10 Terra Relicta (SI)

“ ‘Waiting For The Endless Dawn’ is a genuine album that goes beyond genres and manifests pure beauty.” - 94/100 Lords of Metal (NL)

“This album is quite magnificent. For some it may be a little much to take in in one hit, some may find it a little overwhelming, but be patient and persist with it, for the rewards are glorious.” - Metal Obsession (AU)

“Waiting for the Endless Dawn” is worth it for “The Wound” alone. That track is absolutely incredible." - 8/10 Progressive Music Planet

“This album is just amazing. For some it may be "too much" to sit down and listen to a record of such duration, but I want you to believe me, it is worth the most! In the end you will just be enchanted…” - 9/10 Greek Rebels (GR)

“In my opinion The Eternal are a very great sounding progressive mixture of dark, doom and goth metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band.” - 8/10 Doomed to Darkness

“…With their ability to safeguard innocence in a maelstrom of misery is what should truly be applauded in Waiting for the Endless Dawn.” - 8.5/10 RTMB Music
